Washington Memorial Chapel and Carpenters' Hall will appeal to history buffs. Step off the beaten path and head to Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir and Washington Square Park. Explore Philadelphia's surroundings by going to Pennypacker Mills (in Schwenksville) and The Mill at Anselma (in Chester Springs). The adventure continues: take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, take an in-depth tour of Fireman's Hall, contemplate the long history of B. With a population of less than 300, Harpers Ferry is as quaint as they come.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Tue): don't miss a visit to White Hall Tavern, pause for some serene contemplation at Ruins of St. John's Episcopal Church, then stroll the grounds of Harper Cemetery, then contemplate the long history of Tolson's Chapel, and finally get engrossed in the history at Washington County Rural Heritage Museum. Keep things going the next day: explore the activities along Antietam Creek, then deepen your understanding at Shepherd University, and then get great views at Split Rock Overlook.
