The Forest City

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Start off your visit on the 31st (Sat): sample the tasty concoctions at Shipyard Brewing Company and then learn about winemaking at Maine Mead Works. On your second day here, examine the collection at Umbrella Cover Museum, then enjoy the sand and surf at Casco Bay, then kick back and relax at East End Beach, and finally enjoy the sea views from Portland Breakwater Lighthouse.
