With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Kick off your visit on the 17th (Sun): examine the collection at Museo Historico de Culebra, then enjoy the sand and surf at Zoni Beach, and then step off the mainland to explore Culebrita Island. Keep things going the next day: kick back and relax at Flamenco Beach and then kick back and relax at Playa Punta Soldado Beach.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Serenity Point Yoga & Visionary Arts Space and Fortin Conde de Mirasol Museum. Do some cultural sightseeing at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery and Puerto Ferro Lighthouse. There's much more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Sun Bay Beach, kick back and relax at La Chiva, tour the pleasant surroundings at Media Luna Beach, and discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.
