Sandusky — 3 nights

Sandusky positively bustles in the summertime due to its famed amusement park.
Get out of town with these interesting Sandusky side-trips: Ariel-Foundation Park (in Mount Vernon), Toledo (Maumee Bay Brew Pub & Toledo Museum of Art) and Columbus Zoo and Aquarium (in Powell). There's much more to do: make a splash at Cedar Point, cast your line with Sea Breeze Charters, enjoy the sea views from Marblehead Lighthouse State Park, and contemplate the long history of Eleutheros Cooke House and Garden.

Dayton to Sandusky is an approximately 3.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of bus and train. In June in Sandusky, expect temperatures between 80°F during the day and 63°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sun) so you can go by car to Cleveland.

Cleveland — 4 nights

A culturally diverse city situated on the shores of Lake Erie, Cleveland boasts many places to visit, such as world-class museums, popular amusement parks, and sprawling recreational areas.
Explore Cleveland's surroundings by going to Alpine Hills Historical Museum (in Sugarcreek) and Warther Museum (in Dover). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, admire the striking features of Heinen's Downtown, admire the masterpieces at The Cleveland Museum of Art, and make a trip to A Christmas Story House.

Traveling by car from Sandusky to Cleveland takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. Expect a daytime high around 77°F in June, and nighttime lows around 64°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Thu) early enough to go by car back home.
