Scottsdale is a city in the eastern part of Maricopa County, Arizona, adjacent to the Greater Phoenix Area. Kick off your visit on the 20th (Sat): tour the pleasant surroundings at McDowell Sonoran Preserve, then trot along with a tour on horseback, and then wander the streets of Old Town Scottsdale. On the next day, see Off-Road Tours, then mingle with the ghosts of the past at Goldfield Ghost Town, and then stroll through Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch.

Despite its relatively small size, Sedona overflows with tourist appeal.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): take in the dramatic natural features at Cathedral Rock, admire the striking features of Chapel of the Holy Cross, and then explore and take pictures at Red Rock Scenic Byway (SR 179). Keep things going the next day: trek along Devil's Bridge Trail, then take in the exciting artwork at Navarro Gallery & Sculpture Garden, and then take in the dramatic natural features at Bell Rock.

Traveling by car from Scottsdale to Sedona takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or take a bus. Traveling from Scottsdale in August, expect Sedona to be slightly colder, temps between 89°F and 66°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Tue) so you can travel to Grand Canyon National Park.
