Shenandoah National Park

— 7 nights
Shenandoah National Park showcases a particularly scenic section of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Brandy Station Foundation and Cedar Mountain Battlefield. Take a break from the city and head to Elkwallow Picnic Area and Jones Run Falls Trailhead. Get out of town with these interesting Shenandoah National Park side-trips: Sharp Rock Vineyards (in Sperryville), SoLace Studios Fine Handcrafts (in Elkton) and Big Schloss (in Woodstock). There's lots more to do: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, trek along Dickey Ridge Trail, make a trip to Dean Cemetery, and stroll through Old Rag Mountain Hike.

To see where to stay, photos, maps, and more tourist information, read Shenandoah National Park route maker tool.

In March, plan for daily highs up to 56°F, and evening lows to 35°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Sun) to allow time to travel back home.
