Custer — 3 nights

Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
Step out of Custer to go to Buffalo Gap and see Windcross Conservancy, which is approximately 48 minutes away. There's still lots to do: admire the majestic nature at Custer State Park, explore the striking landscape of Mount Rushmore National Memorial, appreciate the history behind Crazy Horse Memorial, and admire all the interesting features of Wildlife Loop Road.

Wall is a town in Pennington County, South Dakota, United States. On the 14th (Wed), tour the pleasant surroundings at Yellow Mounds Overlook, then explore and take pictures at Loop Road, and then take in the dramatic natural features at Badlands Wall. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the dramatic natural features at Big Badlands Overlook, then explore the striking landscape of Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, and then browse the different shops at Wall Drug.

Sioux Falls is the largest city in the U.S. state of South Dakota. Kick off your visit on the 16th (Fri): walk around Falls Park and then trek along Sioux Falls Bike Trails. Keep things going the next day: pause for some serene contemplation at St. Joseph Cathedral and then learn about winemaking at Strawbale Winery.
