Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
Start off your visit on the 18th (Thu): explore and take pictures at Mount Rushmore National Memorial, then take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, and then explore the fascinating underground world of Wind Cave National Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: admire the majestic nature at Custer State Park, stroll through Cathedral Spires Hiking Trail, and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Harney Peak.
