The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
On the 10th (Sat), don't miss a visit to The Peabody Ducks, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Beale Street, and then look for gifts at Lansky.

Albany to Memphis is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Central Standard Time (CST), which is usually a -1 hour difference. Traveling from Albany in August, things will get a bit warmer in Memphis: highs are around 90°F and lows about 73°F. Traveling by car from Memphis to Nashville takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or fly. In August, daytime highs in Nashville are 89°F, while nighttime lows are 69°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Mon) so you can go by car to Ocoee.

Pigeon Forge

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Go for a jaunt from Pigeon Forge to Hartford to see River Rafting & Tubing about 54 minutes away. Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 15th (Thu) at Dollywood. There's lots more to do: sample the fine beverages at Sugarlands Distilling Company, trek along Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, stroll around Chimneys Picnic Area, and take in the awesome beauty at Mount LeConte.
