The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Fri): steep yourself in history at National Civil Rights Museum - Lorraine Motel and then steep yourself in history at Sun Studio. On your second day here, appreciate the extensive heritage of Beale Street, browse the eclectic array of goods at Memphis Farmers Market, then see the interesting displays at Railroad & Trolley Museum, and finally don't miss a visit to Graceland.

New York City to Memphis is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Central Standard Time (CST), which is usually a -1 hour difference. In June, Memphis is somewhat warmer than New York City - with highs of 89°F and lows of 71°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sun) so you can drive to Nashville.

Known as the capital of country music, the thriving city of Nashville combines old-world southern charm with a progressive urban flair.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Sun): take an in-depth tour of Lotz House Museum, then see the interesting displays at Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and then get engrossed in the history at The Johnny Cash Museum & Cafe. On the next day, contemplate the long history of Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, buy something for everyone on your list at Opry Mills, and then catch a live performance at Grand Ole Opry.

You can drive from Memphis to Nashville in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In June in Nashville, expect temperatures between 88°F during the day and 67°F at night. On the 19th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Pigeon Forge.

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at The Old Mill and Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Get some cultural insight at Titanic Museum Attraction and Walker Sisters' Cabin. Go for a jaunt from Pigeon Forge to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to see Mount LeConte about 30 minutes away. There's much more to do: identify plant and animal life at Roaring Fork, find something for the whole family at Dollywood, appreciate the extensive heritage of Noah Bud Ogle Cabin, and sample the fine beverages at Sugarlands Distilling Company.

Drive from Nashville to Pigeon Forge in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi; or do a combination of flight and taxi. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Nashville to Pigeon Forge due to the time zone difference. Expect a daytime high around 86°F in June, and nighttime lows around 66°F.
