The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
On the 2nd (Sat), take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Mary's Catholic Church and then take an in-depth tour of Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum. On the 3rd (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate the long history of Sun Studio, explore the different monuments and memorials at Elmwood Cemetery, then explore the galleries of Stax Museum of American Soul Music, and finally test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms.

Minneapolis to Memphis is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. While traveling from Minneapolis, expect much hotter days and a bit warmer nights in Memphis, ranging from highs of 63°F to lows of 43°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sun) early enough to go by car to Franklin.

Start off your visit on the 4th (Mon): explore and take pictures at Bridgestone Arena, then admire the masterpieces at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens & Museum of Art, and then get to know the fascinating history of Downtown Franklin. Here are some ideas for day two: explore the galleries of Carnton, contemplate the long history of Carter House, then take an in-depth tour of Lotz House Museum, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
