The Alamo City

As the state’s second largest city, San Antonio embodies Texas’ rich cultural heritage while maintaining the Old West charm of an oil town.
Attractions like SeaWorld and The Alamo make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting San Antonio side-trips: Austin (Barton Springs Pool & Texas State Capitol). There's lots more to do: find something for the whole family at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, let little ones run wild at Brackenridge Park, pause for some serene contemplation at San Fernando De Bexar Cathedral, and contemplate the long history of Mission San Jose.

Detroit to San Antonio is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Detroit to San Antonio. The Motor City

Founded in 1701 by a French explorer and adventurer, Detroit exerted a profound impact on the world for most of the 20th century.
Bring the kids along to Cedar Point and Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. Get out of town with these interesting Detroit side-trips: Toledo Zoo (in Toledo), Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad (in Flint) and Indian Creek Zoo (in Lambertville). There's much more to do: examine the collection at The Henry Ford, don't miss a visit to Ambassador Bridge, explore the world behind art at Detroit Institute of Arts, and take a leisurely stroll along Detroit RiverFront.

Fly from San Antonio to Detroit in 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Eastern Standard Time (EST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. In July, Detroit is slightly colder than San Antonio - with highs of 82°F and lows of 65°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Mon) so you can travel back home.

The Lone Star State
Thanks to its size and geologic features, Texas contains diverse landscapes that closely resemble both the south and southwest of the United States.
