Tombstone — 2 nights

Founded in 1877 as a mining camp, Tombstone became one of the most storied towns of the "Wild West." As one of the last frontier boomtowns in the United States, Tombstone prospered between 1880 and 1890, attracting cattle rustlers and outlaws.
Take a break from the city and head to Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve and Kartchner Caverns State Park. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tombstone: Forever Home Donkey Rescue (in Benson) and Tucson Audubon's Paton Center for Hummingbirds (in Patagonia). There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at San Pedro House, discover the riches below the earth's surface at Queen Mine Tour, and stroll the grounds of Boothilll Graveyard.

Atlanta to Tombstone is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and car. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Mountain Standard Time (MST), which is usually a -2 hour difference. When traveling from Atlanta in March, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Tombstone: temperatures range from 72°F by day to 46°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Willcox.
