A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
On the 21st (Sun), steep yourself in history at Columbia River Highway, stroll through The Grotto - National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, then wander the streets of Northwest (Nob Hill), and finally look for gifts at Powell's City of Books.
