Founded in 1632 as a fortified settlement on the high ground between two rivers, Williamsburg served as a colonial capital of Virginia for over 80 years.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Sun): explore the galleries of Colonial Williamsburg and then identify plant and animal life at Weyanoke Bird and Wildflower Sanctuary. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take a tour of Jamestown Settlement, then steep yourself in history at Historic Jamestowne, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.
