The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.

Family-friendly places like Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and Gettysburg National Military Park will thrill your kids. Get out of town with these interesting Washington DC side-trips: Gettysburg (Horseback Riding Tours & Victorian Photography Studio), Annapolis (Family Fishing Adventures & U.S. Naval Academy) and Roddy Road Covered Bridge (in Thurmont).
