The town of West Yellowstone has served as a gateway to Yellowstone National Park since the early 1900s.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center and Yellowstone Big Gun Fun. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around West Yellowstone: Grizzly Outfitters Ski & Backcountry Sports (in Big Sky) and Yellowstone National Park (Elephant Back Mountain, Roaring Mountain, &more). The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Tue): take in the awesome beauty at Swiftcurrent Mountain, get outside with Swiftcurrent Pass Hike, and then explore the activities along Bullhead Lake. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: get outside with John's Lake Loop.

You can drive from West Yellowstone to Glacier National Park in 7.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of bus and car. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from West Yellowstone in July, with highs in Glacier National Park at 85°F and lows at 49°F. On the 6th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Shoshone.
