Williamsburg

Colonial Capital

Founded in 1632 as a fortified settlement on the high ground between two rivers, Williamsburg served as a colonial capital of Virginia for over 80 years.
Popular historic sites such as Governor's Palace and Yorktown Battlefield are in your itinerary. Attractions like Water Country USA and Kings Dominion make great kid-friendly stops. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Williamsburg: Richmond (Maymont, Hollywood Cemetery, &more), St. Luke's Historic Church & Museum (in Smithfield) and The Mariners' Museum & Park (in Newport News). Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 12th (Wed) at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Jamestown Settlement, get your game on at Bounce House & Laser Tag, get engrossed in the history at Historic Jamestowne, and witness the site of a historic battle at American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.

Expect a daytime high around 87°F in June, and nighttime lows around 68°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
