The Golden Heart City

Step out of Fairbanks to go to Chena Hot Springs and see Chena Hot Springs Resort, which is approximately 1h 20 min away. There's lots more to do: learn more about the world around you at University of Alaska Museum of the North, don't miss a visit to Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point, admire the natural beauty at Georgeson Botanical Garden, and see the interesting displays at Aurora Ice Museum.

San Jose to Fairbanks is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from San Jose to Fairbanks. Getting from Fairbanks to Denali National Park and Preserve by flight takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. While traveling from Fairbanks, expect a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Denali National Park and Preserve, ranging from highs of 44°F to lows of 28°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 5th (Thu) to allow time for the train ride to Anchorage.

The City of Lights and Flowers

Kick off your visit on the 6th (Fri): meet the residents at Alaska Zoo and then capture your vacation like a pro with an inspiring photography tour. On the next day, identify plant and animal life at Potter Marsh Bird Sanctuary, examine the collection at Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, then look for gifts at Polar Bear Gifts, and finally get engrossed in the history at Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum.

Traveling by train from Denali National Park and Preserve to Anchorage takes 6 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In October, daytime highs in Anchorage are 45°F, while nighttime lows are 32°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Sat) early enough to catch the flight back home.
