Ketchikan — 1 night

Salmon Capital of the World

The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.
Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Sat): stroll through Rotary Beach, hike along Deer Mountain Trail, and then look for gifts at The Rain Barrel. Here are some ideas for day two: get engrossed in the history at Tongass Historical Museum, then hike along Ketchikan Rainbird Trail, and then walk around Settlers Cove State Recreational Site.

Houston to Ketchikan is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of flight and ferry. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of bus and ferry. You'll gain 3 hours traveling from Houston to Ketchikan due to the time zone difference. In July, Ketchikan is much colder than Houston - with highs of 65°F and lows of 54°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Sun) to allow time to travel to Juneau.

Juneau is an unusual state capital in many respects.

Homer is a city located in Kenai Peninsula Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. On the 27th (Wed), walk around Bishop's Beach Park and then admire the masterpieces at Bunnell Street Arts Center.

The City and Borough of Sitka, formerly Novo-Arkhangelsk, or New Archangel under Russian rule, is a unified city-borough located on Baranof Island and the southern half of Chichagof Island in the Alexander Archipelago of the Pacific Ocean (part of the Alaska Panhandle), in the U.S. state of Alaska. Kick off your visit on the 30th (Sat): cast your line with Alaska Adventures Unltd, then trek along Herring Cove Trail, and then get engrossed in the history at Sitka Centennial Visitors Center.
