For most visitors to this part of the world, the wild part of Alaska starts at Seward, a small port city that takes advantage of the region's natural beauty.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): meet the residents at Alaska SeaLife Center and then add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour. Keep things going the next day: explore the wealth of natural beauty at Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center and then take an unforgettable tour with a helicopter tour.

Los Angeles to Seward is an approximately 11.5-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time (PST) to Alaska Standard Time (AKST), which is usually a -1 hour difference. Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
On the 24th (Wed), see the interesting displays at Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center and then identify plant and animal life at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. On your second day here, look for gifts at Polar Bear Gifts, thenstroll through Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, and then explore the striking landscape at Beluga Point.

Juneau

Juneau is an unusual state capital in many respects.
On the 26th (Fri), make a trip to Alaska Governor’s Mansion, get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, and then observe the fascinating underwater world at DIPAC's Macaulay Salmon Hatchery. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: admire the sheer force of Nugget Falls and then get answers to all your questions at Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.
