Get in touch with nature at Pinnacle Mountain State Park and The Arkansas River Trail. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Old State House Museum and Esse Purse Museum. The adventure continues: get curious at Museum Of Discovery, appreciate the history behind Testament: The Little Rock Nine Monument, learn about all things military at Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum, and see the interesting displays at Heifer Village (Heifer International).

Houston to Little Rock is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In August, Little Rock is a bit cooler than Houston - with highs of 90°F and lows of 72°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sat) so you can go by car to Hot Springs.

Set deep in the Ouachita Mountains, the city of Hot Springs almost completely surrounds the national park of the same name.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sun): admire the landmark architecture of Anthony Chapel, admire the majestic nature at Lake Catherine State Park, and then sample the fine beverages at Superior Bathhouse Brewery and Distillery. On your second day here, take a peaceful walk through Ouachita National Forest and then stroll through Grand Promenade.

Getting from Little Rock to Hot Springs by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of bus and taxi; or do a combination of train and taxi. In August in Hot Springs, expect temperatures between 90°F during the day and 71°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Mon) to allow time to travel to Mountain View.
