Located just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., the county of Arlington blends big city and sprawling suburban environments.
Visit The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and George Washington's Mount Vernon for their historical value. Let the collections at Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center and National Museum of the Marine Corps capture your imagination. Step out of Arlington to go to Sharpsburg and see Antietam National Battlefield, which is approximately 1h 30 min away. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Arlington National Cemetery, grab your bike and head to Mount Vernon Trail, pause for some photo ops at U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, and make a trip to John F. Kennedy Grave Site.
