Asheville

— 8 nights

Land of the Sky

Asheville nestles between two major mountain ranges in the scenic western section of North Carolina.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at The North Carolina Arboretum and DuPont State Recreational Forest. Take a break from the city and head to Zipline and Sliding Rock. Venture out of the city with trips to Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site (in Flat Rock), Mount Mitchell State Park (in Burnsville) and Looking Glass Falls (in Pisgah Forest). And it doesn't end there: pause for some photo ops at Thomas Wolfe Memorial, take in the exciting artwork at Grovewood Village, admire the natural beauty at Craggy Gardens, and stroll the grounds of Riverside Cemetery.

To find where to stay, maps, photos, and tourist information, you can read our Asheville travel route planner.

In June, daily temperatures in Asheville can reach 83°F, while at night they dip to 62°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
