When you arrive in tiny San Simeon, which lies halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, you can see why William Randolph Hearst chose this coastal locale for his famous hilltop castle.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): look for all kinds of wild species at Friends of the Elephant Seal, then kick back and relax at Piedras Blancas, and then enjoy the sea views from Piedras Blancas Light Station. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue): step into the grandiose world of Hearst Castle, then enjoy the sand and surf at Moonstone Beach, and then explore and take pictures at Moonstone Beach Dr.

Monterey is a city in the U.S. Escape the urban bustle at Dolphin & Whale Watching and 17-Mile Drive. Cannery Row and Casa Serrano, Historic Adobe are good opportunities to explore the local culture.
