Preferred Gateway to Yellowstone

A genuine cowboy city, Cody is famous for its nightly rodeos and its proximity to the protected wilderness areas of the world's first national park, now designated as one of the country's World Heritage Sites.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Change things up with these side-trips from Cody: Cooke City Montana Museum (in Cooke City) and Yellowstone National Park (Mud Volcano, Dragon's Mouth Springs, &more). The adventure continues: relax and float downstream with Wyoming River Trips, take a pleasant ride with Cedar Mountain Trail Rides, admire the engineering at Buffalo Bill Dam, and get a new perspective on nature at Draper Natural History Museum.

For other places to visit, photos, where to stay, and more tourist information, read our Cody trip itinerary planning website.

Expect a daytime high around 83°F in July, and nighttime lows around 58°F.
