9 days in Cooperstown & Niagara Falls Itinerary

Best known as the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Cooperstown embraces Americana.

Step off the beaten path and head to Glimmerglass State Park and Northeast Classic Car Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Cooperstown side-trips: Utica (Saranac Brewery Tour & Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute) and Root Glen (in Clinton). And it doesn't end there: examine the collection at National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, get in on the family fun at Barnyard Swing, take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and play a few rounds at Leatherstocking Golf Course.

Atlanta to Cooperstown is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also drive; or take a bus. In August, Cooperstown is a bit cooler than Atlanta - with highs of 79°F and lows of 58°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue) early enough to go by car to Niagara Falls.

The city of Niagara Falls houses the U.S. half of the famous waterfall that straddles the border between Canada and the United States.

Step off the beaten path and head to Niagara Gorge Trail and Niawanda Park. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Niagara Falls: Buffalo (Delaware Park & Boat Tours & Water Sports), Eternal Flame Falls (in Orchard Park) and Frank Lloyd Wright's Graycliff (in Derby). The adventure continues: Head underground at Cave of the Winds, immerse yourself in nature at Fort Niagara State Park, take in the dramatic scenery at Niagara Falls, and hike along Devil's Hole State Park.

Traveling by car from Cooperstown to Niagara Falls takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and train. In August in Niagara Falls, expect temperatures between 80°F during the day and 61°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Sun) early enough to catch the flight back home.
