Denver

— 5 nights

Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
You've added River Rafting & Tubing, Pedal Hopper, AVA Rafting & Zipline, and other attractions to your itinerary. You'll explore and learn at Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center and Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum. Visit Dinosaur Ridge and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Idaho Springs (Argo Mill and Tunnel & River Rafting & Tubing), Boulder (Mesa Trail, Boulder Creek Path, &more) and Eldorado Canyon State Park (in Eldorado Springs). There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Lookout Mountain, contemplate the long history of Center for Colorado Women's History at the Byers-Evans House, and take an in-depth tour of Littleton Museum.

To find photos, other places to visit, maps, and other tourist information, you can read our Denver online attractions planner.

Use the Route module to find suitable travel options from your home destination to Denver. In July, plan for daily highs up to 87°F, and evening lows to 60°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Fri) so you can go by car to Golden.
