Hartford is the capital of the U.S. state of Connecticut. Get out of town with these interesting Hartford side-trips: Foxwoods Resort Casino (in Mashantucket), Mystic Seaport Museum (in Mystic) and The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home (in Lenox). First Eastern National Park

The first national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park draws visitors with its rugged landscape of ocean shoreline, low-slung granite mountains, dense woodlands, and pristine lakes.
