Houston

Bayou City

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Explore Houston's surroundings by going to Pine Gully Park (in Seabrook) and Kemah Boardwalk (in Kemah). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Space Center Houston, explore the different monuments and memorials at Glenwood Cemetery, tee off at Hermann Park, and engage your brain at Cockrell Butterfly Center.

The Route module shows you all the different ways you can get to Houston. In July in Houston, expect temperatures between 95°F during the day and 77°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Mon) early enough to travel to Kissimmee.

Gateway to Fun

A popular vacation destination in the central part of Florida, Kissimmee's major claim to fame remains its sunny weather and proximity to a large Disney entertainment complex.
Get out of town with these interesting Kissimmee side-trips: Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (in Tampa) and Legoland Florida Resort (in Winter Haven). And it doesn't end there: find something for the whole family at Old Town, enjoy some diversion at Machine Gun America, see the interesting displays at Museum of Military History, and look for gifts at Black Market Minerals.
