Lake Charles — 8 nights

Lake Charles is the fifth-largest incorporated city in the U.S. state of Louisiana, located on Lake Charles, Prien Lake, and the Calcasieu River. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Millennium Park and Bord Du Lac Park. Take a break from the city and head to Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point and Gray Plantation. Step out of Lake Charles to go to Dequincy and see Dequincy Railroad Museum, which is approximately 38 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: walk around Veteran's Memorial Park, see the interesting displays at Children's Museum, relax and rejuvenate at Golden Nugget Spa & Salon, and get to know the fascinating history of Charpentier Historic District.
