Kihei — 7 nights

Stretching over 9.7 km (6 mi) of pristine south Maui coastline, Kihei is the island's driest and sunniest region, making it a perfect location for water activities and beach leisure.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Nakalele Blowhole and Kamaole Beach Park II. Change things up with these side-trips from Kihei: Ho'okipa Beach Park (in Paia), Kapalua Beach (in Kapalua) and Lahaina (Shark Diving, Lahaina Jodo Mission, &more). There's lots more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Honolua Bay, kick back and relax at Ulua Beach, experience rural life at Maui Tropical Plantation, and get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Maui Ocean Center.

For photos, where to stay, maps, and other tourist information, go to the Kihei travel route website.

Chattanooga to Kihei is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HST) is minus 5 hours. In June, daytime highs in Kihei are 87°F, while nighttime lows are 71°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Wed) to allow enough time to fly back home.

The Valley Isle
The second largest of the eight major Hawaiian Islands, Maui features a rugged landscape ranging from high mountain peaks to deep valleys. Half of Maui lies within 8 km (5 mi) of the coastline, and most tourists come for the sandy beaches, many of them backed by fashionable resorts offering every modern convenience. Diversity of tourist attractions is Maui's major allure, with each of the island's shores offering a different set of vacation ideas. You can swim with dolphins, snorkel with sea turtles, or hike over the otherworldly landscapes of the world's biggest dormant volcano. A foodie paradise, the island also features dozens of small farms and gourmet restaurants.
