Traverse City might be well known for its huge cherry industry, but its position along Grand Traverse Bay in Lake Michigan endows it with fine scenery and a wealth of outdoor attractions.
On the 17th (Mon), learn about winemaking at Left Foot Charley Winery. Keep things going the next day: do a tasting at Bowers Harbor Vineyards, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and then wander the streets of Front Street.

Montgomery to Traverse City is an approximately 7-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also fly; or drive. The time zone difference moving from Central Standard Time (CST) to Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 1 hour. In June, Traverse City is slightly colder than Montgomery - with highs of 76°F and lows of 54°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Wed) so you can go by car to Grand Rapids.

The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
