Albuquerque remains one of the state's secret jewels, as its tourist attractions are often overshadowed by the more popular holiday destination of Santa Fe.
Get some cultural insight at National Radio Astronomy Observatory and Turquoise Museum. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Unser Racing Museum and Coronado Historic Site. Get out of town with these interesting Albuquerque side-trips: Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument (in Mountainair) and Bandelier National Monument (in Los Alamos). There's still lots to do: pick up a one of a kind souvenir at Tinkertown Museum, don't miss a visit to Spaceship House, and do a tasting at Casa Rondena Winery.

For ratings, other places to visit, photos, and other tourist information, go to the Albuquerque online trip planner .

Many residents have shunned fast-paced city living for Taos's laid-back vibe and blend of Spanish, Native American, and Anglo cultures.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Wed): don't miss a visit to Taos County Courthouse Murals, take a stroll through Taos Pueblo, explore the world behind art at Millicent Rogers Museum, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church, then shop like a local with Tesuque Glass Works, and finally admire the masterpieces at Blumenschein Home & Museum. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Mabel Dodge Luhan Historic House, take in the exciting artwork at Enchanted Circle Pottery, then take in the spiritual surroundings of San Jose de Gracia Mission Church, and finally do a tasting at La Chiripada Winery.
