Taos

Taos ©
Many residents have shunned fast-paced city living for Taos's laid-back vibe and blend of Spanish, Native American, and Anglo cultures.
Start off your visit on the 20th (Fri): make a trip to Taos County Courthouse Murals. Keep things going the next day: shop like a local with Taos Clay Studio, hit the slopes at Taos Ski Valley Resort, then explore the world behind art at Millicent Rogers Museum, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church.

To see other places to visit, traveler tips, ratings, and other tourist information, use the Taos driving holiday planner.

Chicago to Taos is an approximately 8- hour combination of flight and shuttle. You can also do a combination of flight and car; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Chicago to Taos. While traveling from Chicago, expect somewhat warmer days and little chillier nights in Taos, ranging from highs of 56°F to lows of 23°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Santa Fe.

Santa Fe ©
Santa Fe continuously ranks among the world's top holiday destinations, attracting visitors with its unusual combination of scenic beauty, rich history, cultural diversity, and high concentration of performing arts venues, fine restaurants, and interesting attractions.
San Miguel Chapel and Santa Fe Cathedral Park and Monument will appeal to history buffs. Step off the beaten path and head to El Santuario de Chimayo and Keshi. Step out of Santa Fe with an excursion to Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos--about 42 minutes away. There's lots more to do: hit the slopes at Ski Santa Fe, see the interesting displays at The Harrell House Bug Museum, browse for treasures at Traveler's Market, and get a taste of the local shopping with Nedra Matteucci Galleries.
