Albuquerque remains one of the state's secret jewels, as its tourist attractions are often overshadowed by the more popular holiday destination of Santa Fe.
On the 19th (Fri), learn more about the world around you at New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science and then examine the collection at Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum. On your second day here, appreciate the extensive heritage of Albuquerque Old Town, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at San Felipe de Neri Church, and then get curious at Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque.

Los Angeles to Albuquerque is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. The time zone difference moving from Pacific Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time is 1 hour. Traveling from Los Angeles in July, expect nights in Albuquerque to be about the same, around 67°F, while days are somewhat warmer, around 91°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 20th (Sat) early enough to travel to Santa Fe.

Santa Fe continuously ranks among the world's top holiday destinations, attracting visitors with its unusual combination of scenic beauty, rich history, cultural diversity, and high concentration of performing arts venues, fine restaurants, and interesting attractions.
Popular historic sites such as El Rancho de las Golondrinas and Puye Cliff Dwellings are in your itinerary. Step out of the city life by going to River Rafting & Tubing and Pecos National Historical Park. Change things up with these side-trips from Santa Fe: El Santuario de Chimayo (in Chimayo), Bradbury Science Museum (in Los Alamos) and Ghost Ranch (in Abiquiu). There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at San Miguel Chapel, make a trip to Canyon Road, examine the collection at The Harrell House Bug Museum, and pause for some serene contemplation at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.

Traveling by bus from Albuquerque to Santa Fe takes an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Plan for slightly colder nights when traveling from Albuquerque in July since evenings lows in Santa Fe dip to 60°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) so you can drive to Taos.

Many residents have shunned fast-paced city living for Taos's laid-back vibe and blend of Spanish, Native American, and Anglo cultures.
Escape the urban bustle at Goose Lake Trail and Fort Union National Monument. Discover out-of-the-way places like Horseback Riding Tours and Millicent Rogers Museum. There's still lots to do: let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, soar above the sights with a balloon tour, take in the spiritual surroundings of San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church, and see the interesting displays at La Hacienda del los Martinez.

Traveling by car from Santa Fe to Taos takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Santa Fe in July, things will get a bit cooler in Taos: highs are around 83°F and lows about 52°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
