A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Get some historical perspective at Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery and Northwest (Nob Hill). Escape the urban bustle at Little Zigzag Falls and White Salmon River. Get out of town with these interesting Portland side-trips: Dog Mountain Trail (in Bingen) and Hood River (Big Winds, Hood River Distillers Tasting Room, & more). And it doesn't end there: take a stroll through Multnomah Village, take in the pleasant sights at Wintler Community Park, take in the views from Tilikum Crossing, and don't miss a visit to Alberta Street.

On the 30th (Wed), immerse yourself in nature at South Beach State Park, immerse yourself in nature at Smelt Sands State Park, then immerse yourself in nature at Seal Rock State Wayside, and finally stroll around Don Davis Memorial Park. Astoria, named for famed fur trader John Jacob Astor, resides near the mouth of the Columbia River.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Fri): enjoy the sand and surf at Seaside Beach, then admire the majestic nature at Oswald West State Park, and then kick back and relax at Manzanita Beach. Keep things going the next day: trek along Astoria Oregon Riverwalk, trek along Cathedral Tree Trail, then visit a coastal fixture at Lightship Columbia, and finally see the interesting displays at Seaside Inverted Experience.
