City of Roses

A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
On the 16th (Fri), grab your bike and head to Willamette River Trail, then take in the pleasant sights at Wintler Community Park, then look for all kinds of wild species at Hoyt Arboretum, and finally identify plant and animal life at Cooper Mountain Nature Park.

Omaha to Portland is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Salem is the capital of the U.S. state of Oregon, and the county seat of Marion County. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Marine Discovery Tours and Equestrian Wine Tours. Do your shopping at Salem Saturday Market and Willamette Valley Cheese Company. Change things up with these side-trips from Salem: Dayton (Red Ridge Farms, Archery Summit Winery, &more), Corvallis (OSU McDonald-Dunn Research Forest & Bald Hill Natural Area) and Mike Miller Park (in South Beach).
