With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
On the 21st (Sun), kick back and relax at Flamenco Beach and then enjoy the sea views from Culebrita Lighthouse. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Museo Historico de Culebra and then enjoy the sand and surf at Tamarindo Beach.

New York City, USA to Culebra is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight, shuttle, and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from New York City to Culebra. Traveling from New York City in July, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Culebra, with lows around 80°F. For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Media Luna Beach and Sun Bay. Escape the urban bustle at Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Black Sand Beach. Next up on the itinerary: enjoy the sand and surf at Caracas Beach, take an in-depth tour of Fortin Conde de Mirasol Museum, view the masterpieces at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery, and tour the pleasant surroundings at La Chiva.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sun): enjoy the sand and surf at Steps Beach, stop by Ocean State of Mind, then enjoy the sea views from Punta Higuera Light House, and finally explore the galleries of El Faro Lighthouse. On the 29th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stroll through Crashboat Beach, then kick back and relax at Survival Beach, and then visit a coastal fixture at The Old Aguadilla Lighthouse Ruins.
