Venture out of the city with trips to Prager Winery & Port Works (in St. Helena) and Deerfield Ranch Winery (in Kenwood). Getting from San Francisco to Napa by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of subway and bus; or take a bus. Traveling from San Francisco in March, expect a bit cooler with lows of 6°C in Napa. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe — 4 nights

Step off the beaten path and head to Wine Tours & Tastings and Lakeside Beach. Expect slightly colder temperatures when traveling from Napa in March; daily highs in South Lake Tahoe reach 12°C and lows reach -3°C. On the 9th (Thu), you're off to home.
