Scottsdale is a city in the eastern part of Maricopa County, Arizona, adjacent to the Greater Phoenix Area. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center and Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. Visiting Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Picacho Peak State Park will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Scottsdale: Lost Dutchman State Park (in Apache Junction), Besh Ba Gowah (in Globe) and Hieroglyphic Canyon Trail (in Gold Canyon). And it doesn't end there: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Piestewa Peak, hike along Tom's Thumb Trailhead, identify plant and animal life at Lookout Mountain Preserve, and stroll through Lost Dog Wash Trail.
