Carbondale — 6 nights

Carbondale is a city in Jackson County, Illinois, United States, within the Southern Illinois region informally known as "Little Egypt." The city developed from 1853 because of the stimulation of railroad construction into the area. Get out of town with these interesting Carbondale side-trips: Metropolis (Noel Neill statue, Superman Statue, &more), Rim Rock Recreation Trail (in Golconda) and Lincoln Heritage Winery (in Cobden). And it doesn't end there: look for all kinds of wild species at Garden of the Gods, do a tasting at Kite Hill Vineyards, get a dose of the wild on Shawnee Bluffs Canopy Tour, and admire the majestic nature at Giant City State Park.
