Zion National Park

Towering cliffs of red, white, and pink Navajo sandstone, stream-carved slot canyons, and big blue sky all characterize Zion National Park.
Spend the 8th (Sun) exploring nature at Zion National Park. Spend the 9th (Mon) exploring nature at Canyon Overlook Trail. There's lots more to do: cruise along Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, admire all the interesting features of Zion Shuttle, explore the striking landscape at Emerald Pools, and trek along Angel's Landing.

Dayton to Zion National Park is an approximately 9-hour combination of car and flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference. Traveling from Dayton in May, plan for little chillier nights in Zion National Park, with lows around 41°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Wed) so you can go by car to Bryce Canyon National Park.

Bryce Canyon National Park

You can find hoodoos--rock pillars formed by erosion--all around the world, but those of Bryce Canyon National Park remain the standard bearers thanks to their bright red color, tall stature, and arrangement in large amphitheaters.
Spend the 13th (Fri) exploring nature at Peek-A-Boo Loop. There's still lots to do: take some stellar pictures from Inspiration Point, stroll through Sunset Point, hike along Rim Trail, and get a dose of the wild on Red Canyon Trail Rides.

Drive from Zion National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park in 1.5 hours. In May, Bryce Canyon National Park is slightly colder than Zion National Park - with highs of 63°F and lows of 31°F. You'll have a few hours on the 16th (Mon) to wrap things up before traveling home.
