Pigeon Forge — 4 nights

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Bush's Visitor Center and Bootleggers Homemade Wine. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Old Forge Distillery and Mountain Valley Winery. Venture out of the city with trips to Foothills Parkway Southwest Parking (in Great Smoky Mountains National Park) and Mingus Mill (in Great Smoky Mountains National Park). And it doesn't end there: learn about winemaking at Mill Bridge Winery, sample the fine beverages at Sugarlands Distilling Company, and see the interesting displays at Alcatraz East Crime Museum.
