More than just a charming Southern city, Franklin continues to receive accolades for its downtown Main Street district that has brings up words like "romantic," "small town," and "best place to visit" from numerous media sources.
On the 24th (Wed), contemplate the long history of Cannonsburgh Village, contemplate the long history of Rippavilla Plantation, and then steep yourself in history at President James K. Polk Home & Museum.

Once saddled with the reputation of being one of the country's dirtiest cities, Chattanooga now boasts a pedestrian-friendly downtown with a network of leafy waterfront trails and free electric shuttles.
On the 26th (Fri), take in the history at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, then examine the collection at Creative Discovery Museum, then take in the history at Point Park - Lookout Mountain Battlefields, and finally admire the majestic nature at Cloudland Canyon State Park. Here are some ideas for day two: take in nature's colorful creations at Rock City Gardens, witness the site of a historic battle at Chickamauga Battlefield, then examine the collection at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, then hike along Tennessee Riverpark, and finally walk around Coolidge Park.

You can drive from Franklin to Chattanooga in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Franklin to Chattanooga due to the time zone difference. In July in Chattanooga, expect temperatures between 90°F during the day and 71°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sat) so you can drive to Ducktown.
