Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Space Center Houston and San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site. Take a break from the city and head to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge and Cockrell Butterfly Center. Take a break from Houston with a short trip to Brazos Bend State Park in Needville, about 52 minutes away. There's much more to do: explore the world behind art at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, admire all the interesting features of Water Wall, take in the spiritual surroundings of Rothko Chapel, and stroll the grounds of Glenwood Cemetery.

Orlando to Houston is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. You'll gain 1 hour traveling from Orlando to Houston due to the time zone difference. In December, Houston is slightly colder than Orlando - with highs of 66°F and lows of 50°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Wed) so you can catcht the bus to San Antonio.

Kick off your visit on the 4th (Sat): take an in-depth tour of Bullock Texas State History Museum, then get engrossed in the history at LBJ Presidential Library, then get a sense of history and politics at Texas State Capitol, and finally hike along Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail. One of the country's most popular shopping destinations, Dallas and its sprawling suburbs include more shopping centers per capita than any other urban center in America.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): make a trip to Top O'Hill Terrace, then steep yourself in history at Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, then wander the streets of Sundance Square, and finally examine the collection at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
