The Big Easy

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Mon): appreciate the extensive heritage of Garden District, then learn about all things military at The National WWII Museum, and then appreciate the extensive heritage of Jackson Square. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: soothe aching muscles at The Sweat Social, appreciate the extensive heritage of French Quarter, stop by Faulkner House Books, then admire the striking features of St. Louis Cathedral, and finally get thoroughly spooked out with a ghost and vampire tour.

Independence to New Orleans is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Independence in April, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be warmer in New Orleans, with lows of 71°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Tue) so you can drive to Mobile.
