Mile-High City
Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.Visiting Mount Evans and Summit Lake Park will get you outdoors. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Garden of the Gods and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. When in Denver, make a side trip to see River Rafting & Tubing in Idaho Springs, approximately Idaho Springs away. There's still lots to do: get a new perspective on nature at Denver Museum of Nature & Science and explore the activities along Crown Hill Park.

Pittsburgh to Denver is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Pittsburgh to Denver. Traveling from Pittsburgh in July, Denver is a bit cooler at night with lows of 60°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Thu) early enough to travel to Aspen.

Rocky Mountain High
Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.Attractions like Maroon Bells and Maroon Lake Scenic Trail make great kid-friendly stops. Escape the urban bustle at River Rafting & Tubing and Independence Pass. Take a break from Aspen with a short trip to Thermal Spas in Glenwood Springs, about 58 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at The John Denver Sanctuary.
