Vail — 4 nights

Originally built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, the town of Vail has blossomed into its own destination, but still has less than 6,000 permanent residents.
Get in touch with nature at River Rafting & Tubing and Vail Valley Food Tours. Do some cultural sightseeing at South Park City Museum and Argo Mill and Tunnel. Explore Vail's surroundings by going to Breckenridge (Spas, Room Escape Games, &more) and Eagle Ranch Golf Club (in Eagle).

To find photos, maps, and tourist information, go to the Vail trip maker tool.

The Route module can give you travel options from your home to Vail. Expect a daytime high around 60°F in June, and nighttime lows around 45°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Wed) to allow time to drive to Aspen.

Aspen — 4 nights

Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
Take a break from the city and head to Maroon Bells and Rio Grande Trail. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Aspen: Glenwood Springs (Thermal Spas, River Rafting & Tubing, &more). And it doesn't end there: admire all the interesting features of Independence Pass, hike along Lost Man Trail, see Off-Road Tours, and stroll through The John Denver Sanctuary.

To find photos, more things to do, other places to visit, and tourist information, read our Aspen itinerary planning tool.

Getting from Vail to Aspen by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a bus. Traveling from Vail in June, expect nights in Aspen to be about the same, around 43°F, while days are somewhat warmer, around 79°F.
