Create an itinerary including Blackbeard’s Castle
Learn about the Caribbean's pirate-filled past at Blackbeard’s Castle, a lookout tower located on a historical site. Built in 1679, the tower reaches a height of 12 m (40 ft) and has walls 1.8m (6 ft) thick, allowing excellent visibility of, and protection of, incoming enemies. Nowadays, the top of the tower offers extensive views of the town and its harbor, while downstairs you'll find three sparkling swimming pools. Plunge into the water to relax after a long day spent plundering the high seas. Blackbeard's here too, in the form of a 4.2 m (14 ft) bronze statue. Put Blackbeard’s Castle and other Charlotte Amalie attractions into our Charlotte Amalie trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • We hung out at the pool bar for an afternoon with family. Beautiful setting, great view, friendly bartender, good drinks and munchies. Would like to come back....

  • Went here as part of a tour excursion on a cruise. Interesting. Not sure how tied to pirates the area is but the tower is very cool to climb and the they was great! All the way through the tour the guides were very knowledgeable about the buildings and their. History. They have a pool there that you can use if you want to.
  • The castle and the stories were really awesome. Blackboard would twist gun powder in his beard and light it before going into battle to scare his opponent. Nice view of the harbor. Going down the hill were museum s and more stuff to look at.
